Описание

Burning Brides were formed in 1999 in Philadelphia by Dimitri and Melanie Coats. The couple met in New York City in 1995 at The Juilliard School. Melanie was about to graduate from the modern dance department. Dimitri had quit the acting program two years earlier to pursue music. They fell in love listening to records together and decided to form a heavy rock band. The couple travelled the country for a few years looking for a drummer and the right music scene from which to launch their assault. They eventually settled in Philadelphia, found drummer Mike Ambs, and headlined their first show on May 11, 1999 at The Khyber. The Brides quickly gained a reputation for their energetic live show, opening for the likes of The Melvins and Marilyn Manson. Tours with The White Stripes, Royal Trux, Mike Watt, Local H, and J. Mascis followed. Burning Brides released their first album Fall Of The Plastic Empire in 2001 on the local Philadelphia label File 13. They continued to tour and generate press leading to 2002's South By Southwest Music Festival, after which the band found itself in a major label bidding war. The band replaced Ambs with drummer Jason Kourkounis (Hot Snakes) and signed with V2 Records, which re-released the album worldwide in 2002. The Brides performed the single "Arctic Snow" on Late Night With Conan O' Brien and toured with Queens Of The Stone Age, Audioslave, My Morning Jacket, and Lollapalooza 2003. In 2004 Burning Brides released their second album Leave No Ashes, which was produced by George Drakoulias (Tom Petty, Black Crowes). The Brides returned to Conan O'Brien to perform the single "Heart Full Of Black," which was also featured on the first Guitar Hero video game. The band continued to hit the road with such acts as A Perfect Circle and Mastodon in addition to headlining tours internationally. After taking a couple years off, Burning Brides moved to Los Angeles, returned with a new drummer, Pete Beeman (Guzzard), and released their third album, Hang Love, independently in 2007. Hang Love was produced by Dimitri Coats and engineered by Mathias Shneeberger (St. Vitus, Mark Lanegan) at his studio in Arcadia, CA. Dimitri and Melanie met Mathias while contributing tracks to Mark Lanegan's 2004 Bubblegum album. The Brides hit the road with Peaches and Eagles Of Death Metal in support of Hang Love, followed by a headlining tour of the U.S. Dimitri and Melanie married in 2006 and welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in November of 2008. During this time Dimitri contributed tracks to Chris Cornell's 2007 Carry On album. He also performed with Chris on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. In June of 2008 Burning Brides released their fourth album, Anhedonia, which was produced by Dimitri Coats and mixed by Matt Hyde (Slayer, Monster Magnet). Two tracks from the album, "Flesh And Bone" and "If One Of Us Goes Further", are featured in the upcoming 2009 rock and roll vampire comedy Suck, starring Malcolm McDowell, Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, and Henry Rollins. Dimitri plays the role of Queeny, the lead villain vampire. Coats also acted in the independent film Passenger Side (2009) which premiered at The Los Angeles Film Festival in June. Burning Brides most recently performed a series of shows at the 2009 North By Northeast Music Festival with new drummer Jeff Watson (Icarus Line/Black Elk) and plan on writing a new album in 2010.
