We give students an opportunity to connect and have fun while practising diplomacy in English. Future World Diplomats (FWD) is MGIMO’s only English-speaking club, striving to allow students to connect with other students and professionals and to put their theoretical knowledge into practice. FWD was founded by students of MGIMO and offers especially our international students to get involved in the university’s student life. Our goal is to facilitate free and open-minded communication between future diplomats and organisations both within our home university of MGIMO and abroad. Through objective and inclusive dialogue, we seek to gain a better understanding of the world we live in. Our events include debates, meetings with professionals, round-table discussions with other universities. We also offer opportunities to meet and connect (and to practise English!) in more informal settings. Our events aim to develop diplomatic skills and encourage networking in order to assist our members in pursuing their future careers. Through objective and non-exclusive dialogue, we seek to gain a better understanding of the world in which we live and operate. Realising that our international guests, both permanent and temporary, need assistance with integration into both our community and our city, we wish to ease the process of international relocation through any means possible, and thus develop a brave diplomatic spirit which is both able and adventurous. Understanding that we stand to gain immeasurable experience from those who have come before, we wish to put forth invitations to those diplomats and experts who may then pass on their knowledge and wisdom to our organization and its guests, through the process of lectures and forums. Following along the same lines, we believe that the practical skills of our future diplomats can always be improved, and thus we seek to provide workshops and training in all spheres of diplomacy. In the interest of developing careers, we seek to encourage networking, and the facilitation of relations between both future diplomats themselves, and those companies and organisations which may provide us with a path to success. Our mission is simple, and we believe that it is through the realisation of these goals that we may broaden our view toward the world in which we live, and create the brighter future which we all strive for.
