Who are we?
We are a voluntary group of students, graduates and postgraduates from various universities, including MSU, RSUH, and MIPT, who regularly gather to speak in English on different topics, to meet with interesting like-minded people and share with them our knowledge and enthusiasm!
We have a friendly and strong team, and guarantee you a cosy and enjoyable atmosphere :) So, if you are learning English and are looking for English practice – don’t be in two minds, just join us! We are always happy to greet newcomers!
What our purposes are?
• To practice English and improve our speaking skills
• To meet with new interesting people and get to know better our friends
• To experience different interpersonal situations and activities in English
• To simply have a good time playing games in English, discussing news or topics and enjoying the whole atmosphere :)
How do we work?
Traditionally, our English meetings take place every Sunday from 4 till 6. During the academic year (from October till summer) we gather at the American Cultural Center at the Library for Foreign Literature. In summer and September we meet in the open air and, if it is raining, hold our meetings in cafes.
The sameness is not for us! That is why our activities are diverse, and we try to make them different for every meeting. Most of our formats target people skills practicing: we have free discussions as well as debates, negotiations, team-working, quick-friending, etc., and we continue to invent more. Besides we regularly have fun in English, which includes games, puzzles and even quests)
For difficult topics we prepare vocabulary lists, and we are constantly improving ourselves to make you feel comfortable!
If you are interested in what we do, and you are an active well-speaking person who is ready to bring something new to our club, do not hesitate to join us! :)
If you are interested in more detailed information, you can ask questions in comments below.
What is our history?
Initially the club was organized in Moscow State University by its students, and was working only on the campus. Gradually the club became bigger, and we moved to the American Cultural Center, which drew more participants to us and gave us new opportunities. Now we have considerably developed, and our club is no longer of MSU only (though the title is still the same :)) Our team is mixed! We are from different universities, and we major in different disciplines, but this make our club even richer since each person is unique and make his /her incomparable contribution to the atmosphere!
P.S.: The main information about meetings is published here weekly or once in two weeks. However, if you would like to receive vocabulary lists and other learning materials (which we make every now and then), you would better leave us our e-mail (at a meeting or by contacting us via the net).
