Task Horizon is an internationally acclaimed D'n'B act from Switzerland was originally founded by producers/DJs Aaron Von Schroeder and Jonas Ullmann in the romantic environment of a ramshackle music studio on the first floor of an abandoned (and happily disintegrating) factory for sewage pipe coatings in the outskirts of Zürich/Switzerland,now TH consisting of Aaron Von Schroeder & Tim Kleinert.
It all started in the decidedly Bohemian setting of an abandoned and dilapidated factory plant in the outskirts of Zürich. Here, fledgling producer/DJ Aaron Von Schroeder set up his music studio on the first floor and started churning out tracks and collaborating with folks from the local scene.
After Jonas split and moved to the UK in order to embark on his successful career as Uman, Aaron relocated his studio to more inviting premises and continued as Task Horizon on his own. Jazz keyboardist Tim Kleinert had his practice room downstairs and would sometimes come up during breaks to stick around and jam over Aaron’s newest beats. The unique encounter between “mad scientist” producer and (equally mad) synthesizer virtuoso produced an hard-hitting musical mixture which was just too tempting to resist, and so these casual jams rapidly developed into production sessions of growing intensity and regularity.Tim always kept in touch, and what started out as casual studio visits to share gossip, booze and munchies gradually developed into protracted music production sessions of growing intensity and regularity. Seeing that their musical abilities complemented each other perfectly, it was a natural consequence for Tim to officially join the project.
True to their temperament and to the maxim “the cream rises to the top”, Task Horizon have always been reluctant to forcefully elbow themselves into the spotlight, preferring instead to silently (or no so silently, if you unfortunately happen to live next door) hone their craft to perfection until the world has no choice but to take notice.
Accompanied by frequent electrical setbacks, heating system failures and rodent invasions, the first TH tracks saw the light, often aided and abetted by professional synthesizer player Tim Kleinert, who had his practice room downstairs.
Long considered Drum & Bass best kept secret, Task Horizon has seen their publicity pick up massive momentum this year due to the viral nature of the Internet and the sheer penetrating power of their musical output.
Their combination of forward-thinking production and unrivaled imagination has landed a string of consistent hits since their debut in 2004. Since then, their unparalleled work ethic and desire has seen the cream rise to the top, and landed them releases on labels such as Evolution Chamber, Cause4Concern, Timeless, Close2Death, Mainframe, DSCI4, Ammunition, Cymbalism, Sudden Def, Fokuz LTD, Circle, Habit, Dangerous new age, Black Reign LTD, Dissected Culture LTD.
They have released material on the finest of US and UK labels (see above) and are supported by key players like Noisia, Ed Rush & Optical,Spor, Optiv, Adam F, J Majik, Andy C and Pendulum.
